Born on June 12, 1959. In 1983 graduated from the Moscow Institute of International Relations, affiliated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Majored in political science with special interest in South Asian affairs.

Speaks English and Hindi.

In diplomatic service since 1983. First assignment in the Consulate General of the Soviet Union in Calcutta (1984-1987), followed by two postings in the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Delhi (1991-1995, 1997-2003). Prior to the arrival in Chittagong held the position of the Senior Counsellor in the 2-nd Department of Asia in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Joined the new posting in Chittagong on September 2-nd, 2005.
